Guest guest
Hi all, I rang Chrissy in her hotel room today, and she said that the doctor thought she was doing so well that she was able to be discharged today instead. Although one can imagine how she feels, fresh out of hospital and major surgery and having to take care of herself in a hotel room. It broke my heart, and I have tried to work the ways that I could drive up there to spend some time to help her, but it isn't possible for me at the moment. She is in until Thursday, 2nd December and from there flies back home. Right now she just wishes she had someone to look after her. After she registered, she hung her clothes up, then made herself a little nest on the bed with ...her quote " 400 count cotton sheets and goose down pillows, which were just so hard to sleep on..not " *L* She says the hotel is absolutely lovely. All victorian furniture etc. She tried room service, but they were not operating on the holiday, so she had to get herself dressed and go to The Pub for dinner. Food is excellent apparently, but she will steer clear of the champagne. She frets because her husband accidently saw fit to take her coat back home with him and she is stuck in snowy Cincinnati with no coat now...nor a watch..so she can't tell what the time is whilst she is shivering *L* Her blood sugar is very well regulated at the moment, and she said that she has been taught very well how and when to test it, and she isn't finding it difficult to manage. She is on Lantis (sp?) of an evening and that is working for her. However, the pain is hitting her like a bomb. At least she doesn't believe it is pancreas pain, just post surgical. Having had 2 doctors with different opinions, her GI back home saying it is her pancreas, and the Cincinnati surgeon saying it wasn't her pancreas, she chose the political correct answer when the surgeon asked her if she felt this surgery had helped her. She told him that she thinks it is too soon to say that her pancreas pain has gone, but she believes she made the correct choice for her because this was the direction she felt she needed to take. She then told me that the doctor gave her a handshake hug, which to me sounds like he warmed up a bit, and agreed that she made the right choice for her in a bad situation. Onto a lighter note...a lovely arrangement of flowers were delivered to her with a note and there was no name. She would appreciate whoever sent them (from Wisconsin) to own up so she can thank you for them. She said they are absolutely beautiful. Here is the address of the hotel. The Vernon Manor 400 Oak Street Cincinnati, OH 45219 Tel: (513)281-3300 Fax: (513)281-8933 http://www.vernon-manor.com/ I don't think i've left any important info out, but if i think of anything, I will post it later.
