Guest guest
Hi all- I have a 10 year old diagnosed with Crohns about a year ago. I just started the SCD yesterday. I have been trying to gauge when to start yogurt (by making it myself of course). I didn't see when I could start it in the BVC book. I went to the pecan website and it said it could be started right away if the child doesn't have a problem with dairy. I don't see where it says anything about yogurt in the intro diet. Is it true you can start yogurt right away (once you make it)?
Guest guest
Yes, yogurt is permitted immediatley. Many parents opt to stay dairy free, and many stick with homemade goat yogurt. Cow yogurt(homemade) is also permitted. Remember to start with a very small amount like 1/8tsp. to make sure that your child can tolerate it, and die off isn't too harsh. When the initial die off reaction to SCD has subsided and things are stable so that you can gauge the reaction to the yogurt. This delay is only for children who were casein free prior to SCD. Children who were eating dairy before SCD can start consuming the yogurt right away. Carol F. SCD7 years, celiac
Guest guest
Technically, yogurt is allowed on the intro diet.... because it's an ingredient in the cheesecake Elaine lists for intro. Patti When to start Yogurt I don't see where it says anything about yogurt in the intro diet.
