Guest guest
It is true that I am a former patient of Dr. Rutledge and it is true that 8 weeks after surgery I became concerned about my lack of weight loss. No one wants to be a member of that small group of post ops who's surgery isn't as successful as everyone else. It's a risk that everyone takes when they choose any WLS and I do not place the blame on Dr. Rutledge. On the other hand, I now have severe bile reflux because of the surgery. A complication associated with this form of WLS. It is a condition that is both extremely uncomfortable and worrisome. The course of treatment (medications) has not yet proved to alleviate any of the symptoms. I am still losing weight but at what cost to my health? Flo states the following: " Beth certainly has a right to her feelings. She perceives she was treated badly. I wasn't there. I didn't see or hear what happened or has taken place. I can simply go by what the vast majority of Dr. R's patients say and by what my own experience has been. " This is not exactly true. No one can claim they have heard from " the vast majority " . They can only state they have heard from those members who post or email them privately. There are more than 900 people who have had this surgery and it's clear that the majority don't post. Also not included in those numbers are the people who went to clinic and elected not to have the surgery for whatever reason. " I have a feeling there is a Dr. Rutledge and his staff side of the story which as someone else pointed out, he cannot discuss due to confidentiality. Perception is a major player here. " I would happily release Dr. Rutledge from his confidentiality clause if he would like to address my issues. I have never claimed that my experience with him or his staff was anything more than MY experience. I have tried to be as honest and as open as I can possibly be and stated all the facts as they pertained to me. There have been others who have shared similar experiences with regards to his staff, his responses to their emails, his vague replies to questions and all have been subjected to attack by some members of the groups. I fully understand their unwillingness to share these thoughts and I appreciate their private support. For those who are members of the MGB Truth list I ask that you go to the list and read messages #1955 and #1959. In these messages I share a weeks worth of dialogue between myself and Dr. Rutledge. I think it does a fair job of representing why I have the " perception " that I have in regards to this man. Beth _____________________________________________________________________ Beth is a former patient of Dr. Rutledge's. did not write this post, it came from Beth. Beth has been disappointed in Dr. Rutledge and in her surgical result. You can't make everyone happy in every instance and this is an example of someone who is not happy. It happens. Dr. Rutledge has nearly 1,000 post-op patients and probably as many pre-ops. It would be unusual to say the least if every patient pre and post op were happy. Beth's experience and mine have been diabolically opposite. I was treated kindly and courteously. I read the instructions on the clos.net site; I followed the instructions to have the surgery and what the web site said would happen did happen. I don't know how your doctor's office is but when I call to get an appointment, I don't get one for weeks. The staff does not act like they are happy that I've called, and I have gotten conflicting information from them before too. I've been treated wonderfully and I've been treated down right snotty. Beth certainly has a right to her feelings. She perceives she was treated badly. I wasn't there. I didn't see or hear what happened or has taken place. I can simply go by what the vast majority of Dr. R's patients say and by what my own experience has been. I have a feeling there is a Dr. Rutledge and his staff side of the story which as someone else pointed out, he cannot discuss due to confidentiality. Perception is a major player here. I was a newspaper reporter for 14 years many years ago (ok, I'm old, I know that and you know that). There was another newpaper in town. When our story came out and then I read the story of the same event in the other paper, it made me wonder if the other reporter and I were covering the same event. This is just someone's perception of how they were treated. Let's not minimize that Beth feels this way. We all are entitled to have feelings. Feelings are not right or wrong. They're just feelings.
