Guest guest
Hi, I have a question about SCD foods given in the more advanced stages of the diet to a person who most probably (now testing) has overgrowth of yeast. I read that raisins, honey, bacon (smoked, crispy) and swiss cheese shouldn't be eaten if there is yeast present. If there is an excessive amount of yeast, would the foods listed above continue to promote the production of yeast? Thanks --------------------------------- Access over 1 million songs - Yahoo! Guest guest
You can avoid these foods for now if you want to. SCD doesn't follow the same rules as diets that are prescribed as anti-yeast treatments. Many new SCDers choose to either avoid or go easy on such foods as honey for that same reason, so it's up to you to use or not use foods that you feel are going to cause a problem with yeast, allergies or sensitivities. Just because a food is " SCD legal " , doesn't mean you're required to eat it. You will probably find that SCD itself will help rebalance the gut and by the time you are far enough along with the diet, yeast may not be as much of a problem. Be sure to include l.acidophilus supplements, and SCD yogurt, as both will help tremendously.
