Guest guest
Hi Jerry! I am glad to see someone finally responded to my curiousity towards this! I have been doing a study on CCK specifically CCK antagonist because I had found a clinical trial of a CCK drug called Loxiglumide tested over in Japan for 1 year. These symptoms decreased by 1/2 in these patients. The drug is still not available in the US, even though they did do some studies and clinical trial towards it for a period of time. My assumption is they ran out of funding, but it states they didn't see enough relief from patients. They weren't testing it for pancreatitis in the US. It was tested for IBS and other GI disorders of the like. Why it would work for the pancreas, but not the other, I don't understand. However there have been several other tests done in other countries about this, that as I said earlier, it may have had something to do with funding and not at all to do with whether it helps symptoms for IBS and the like. I did include several links in my first post, but if you would like them again, I will post specifically to you or you can do a search on the digest for CCK. As Chrissy mentioned about the relaxation of the smooth muscles, but this link goes into way more detail (explained in very laymans terms) how our body naturally has a hormone CCK that does this for us, if the digestive system is properly functioning. Because of the response I have received thus far on each digest, I made a call into the foundations with pancreatitic studies in order to hopefullly get the ball rolling towards some studies towards or make known to docs that Xanax or other CCK antagonists may be a light at the end of the tunnel for some of us! Any questions or ideas, please make reference in the subject line to me- ANGELA- as I am still doing a great deal of research into this, and don't always get to every post unless it has a flag of some interest to me. There's just not enough time in the day! Thanks again for giving me hope into this and being forward about you thoughts! > > My statements here do not constitute an endorsement of Xanax for anyone else's treatment. Please consult your physician before undertaking any drug-based treatment program for pancreatitis. > >
