Not absorbing!

Hello friends -

Sorry for the crosspost if I'm hitting several of you with the same email.

We have finally (finally!) achieved near regularity with Luke's stools in both

form and frequency by SCD/GF/CF, aggressive and varied enzyme use, and reduction

in oxalate unfriendly foods. Improvements in behavior have been seen with

associated improvement in stools.

Even with that, however, lab tests continue to he simply isn't absorbing the

various nutrients we are giving him. Vitamin D shows 2 SD below normal depsite

daily doses @ 300 RDA, likewise low zinc and selenium despite continuous

supplementation for over a year.

We are really getting the feeling that we might be doing a lot more good if some

of the supplements we laboriously divide and hide in his drinks were being

absorbed.

He has been known to have bacterial imbalances and yeast overgrowth. He's on

probiotics and sometimes anti yeast agents. Predicted die offs from SCD have

been documented and the yeast die offs were quite spectacular.

Even still, it seems apparent he simply is not taking in what we are giving him.

What are our options for figuring out what is going wrong with his gut?

Presumably a gastro doctor could scope him to determine inflammation and / or

villi damage, but I'm a little reluctant to put him under unless we feel

confident we will get actionable information from doing so. Has anyone else

experienced this? If so, any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

brian
