Guest guest
I would ask about a second helmet. i think you should feel comfortable when you are done. Ask for measurements. Just because he feels that way doesn't mean he won't let you go longer if gently pushed. Or if not ask if there are any other places that treat at 6 months old *hint hint*.From: edtmyers <edtmyers@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Mon, January 31, 2011 7:36:19 PMSubject: Hanger Helmet - Done in a Month??? We have had our little one in a helmet for only a month, which includes the week of transition too. It seems really premature to say that he is done, but our orthotist seems to feel that since the helmet is now too small then treatment should be done. The flat spot is much improved, but there is still a noticible area and his forehead still is sloped. Our LO is only 5 1/2 months old, so we are also worried that the progress will regress since it's still so early. Does anyone have any experience with this or thoughts? Guest guest
I have never heard of anyone growing out of a hanger band so early. Docbands have thinner foam, and sometimes are outgrown in a month or so (still the exception but it happens). I would think the band was made too small to start with and that you should get a new one for free. The band is considered too small when there is no more foam left to make adjustments in some part of the band. One problem might be that you had a lot of growth between ordering the band and getting it in, but then he should have told you that at the beginning. -christine sydney, 5 yrs, starband grad > > I would ask about a second helmet. i think you should feel comfortable when you > are done.
