Good Results in Treating Bad Rash

Hi All,

Just wanted to share in case anyone else has this happen. Our son developed a

rash after not having any issues for three weeks. He developed a bad rash on the

side of his head, really red and somewhat smelly too. I made a mixture of

hydrocortisone and triple antibiotic ointment and we left his helmet off for two

days (at the recommendation of our ortho) putting the medicine on as often as we

could. The rash got significantly better so we started with a few hours on and

off and got back to full use within the same day. Our ortho does not recommend

putting on meds with the helmet, but so far if it looks a little red in the same

area I will put some on before I put on his helmet and it seems to keep it from

developing into a full blown rash.

Also, the helmet became smelly after this incident but went away after continued

use of the alcohol. Also, this is probably not recommended, but I put some

baking soda in it and let it sit for about 15 minutes and then wiped it out.

Hope this helps!
