Hi,

I started writing and something happened, I hope this will not be

posted twice.. if so, please forgive!

I will try to be brief..Thanks to you all that have helped me by

answering my questions in the last couple of weeks. You have helped

me

get over a hurdle. I would like to share my personal findings with

you. I think this post may help..

This post is dealing with Bile reflux and my findings after many,

many

hours of research... If you are not interested, please do not keep

reading. I just wanted to share my findings with you and give a few

of

the newcomers some ideas how to find out where to find this info so

they can draw their own conclusions like I did..

I found on the MGB site that 6% of MGBers have complained of bile

reflux...That translates to 56 out of 932 patients...

I also found that with meds. that the reflux is much better or

practically gone. They have to watch what they eat, ex. fatty food,

and acidy foods, and even caffeine aggravates it.

I went to 4 different gastro sites, so that I would not be under the

wls. surgery sites. I found that many people suffer from this with

out

having surgery. Also, I found that with meds. the problems with it

are

much better or gone.

I also researched the RNY(lap and open), VGB, Gastric bypass,

Billroth

II, sites...they all list BILE FEFLUX as a possible problem that can

arise anywhere from 4 weeks to years after surgery.

Under the Gastro site, I found that anytime your stomach is messed

with, even after a tummy tuck and hernia surgeries people have had

bile reflux.

See, this is a common problem that affects people that have never had

surgery and people who have had surgery. It obviously is not just

with

those that have had the MGB. To me, this was a relief!

BUT PLEASE>>>> DO NOT TAKE MY RESEARCH FOR THE GOSPEL>>> RESEARCH IT

YOURSELF!!!!!!

That was my situation, there is such a controversary and you do not

know who to believe. I did not know if people were just MGB struck or

if the ones against it were struck too..

I could not take any ones word on it... I had to research it for my

own peace of mind. That is my advice to all the newcomers and the

lurkers that are also still questioning.

I found enough for me to be satisfied, but do not stop until YOU are

satisfied with your findings whether it be for or against.

Hope this helps....

I use Dogpile as my search engine...www.dogpile.com

I searched each surgery for possible problems with bile reflux.

When I got to each site, I searched it for bile reflux,

Barrett's esophageal, alkaline relux, and acid reflux.

When I put in bile reflux under dogpile, it gave me a couple of

gastro

sites..

Once I got to one, I would search the same stuff.

Honestly, the gastro sites are what helped me most!

Then, I searched for Gastro using dogpile..

I went to a couple more using this method. By the fourth one, It

seemed they all said about the same thing. Possible..use meds...

SO, I hope it helps.

Again, if you are in doubt, do the research.

Oh, My decision is final, I will be a future MGBer if my insurance

will pay---My second surgery choice will be Lap RNY if they will not

pay for the MGB. (my insurance has clause-no loop surgeries)(they

specify RNY as best option)

Sorry this was so long,

in Georgia
