Jen, would like to add just a little info I learned when I was researching

MGB. Most of the info I found on the Bilroth II was done on persons who were

being treated for cancer and other stomach problems, often long ulcer

history, and sometimes for trauma, like gunshot wound to stomach, and with

these patients there was an increased risk of developing ulcers and or

cancer. But the info is skewed because of the conditions which pre-existed

the surgery. So, it is a little like comparing oranges and, oh I don't know,

maybe lima beans!

I am scheduled for 11-3 for the MGB, and I feel that my prospect for

devastating illness is maybe 5% with this surgery, and 95% without it! None

of these surgeries are risk-free, no matter which you choose, but not having

this help guarantees poor health, and very soon. To me, there's no argument

for not having WLS! Diabetes, hypertension, heart and circulatory disease,

stroke, and death are awaiting. And will be showing up after years of

decreasing ability and decreasing pleasure of movement. For me, quality of

life is infinitely more important than quantity. I'll take 20 good years

over 30 worsening and never good ones, any day. Heck, I'll take 10 if

they're really good!!! Just my thoughts for you to ponder. PhillyJude
