Guest guest
Hi Darren, Forgive me for having forgotten, but why were you advised to have a TP/ICT? Have you had any change of diet and/or treatment which could have led to the improvement? Has the condition a history of being patchy in your case? I found myself in a similar position last year. I was going to have a TP last October. Then I began to respond well to the enzymes (Creon) and my pain attacks reduced considerably in severity and frequency. The surgery was shelved for the time being. CP is notoriously unpredictable, though. It could be just a temporary good patch that you're going through, especially if this sort of thing has happened before. On the other hand, you do want to be certain that this surgery is right for you. It is very major and is only be undertaken if severe and intractable pain cannot be managed medically. Of course, if there is any suggestion of malignancy, a TP may also be recommended; it depends on the particular case. I'd talk it over with your specialist again. BTW, no surgeon would want to do the surgery unless it was absolutely necessary. I know exactly how you feel, having been through it myself! Good luck with your decision, whatever it is. With good wishes, Fliss (UK)
