Guest guest
I just wanted to share a story that really has helped me deal with my own transistion to SCD. I can't remember who wrote the story, but a member on one of my egroups, perhaps this one, told me that her son had been suffering from Chron's, diverticulosis, hyperplasia, spastic colon and irritable bowel, and he was only six years old. She started him on SCD and tried to be infraction free for six months. He got into everything. He ate chips from friend's lunchboxes at school, he ate toothpaste, he ate swiped a candy bar and ate it while they were shopping at the market. She was about to tear out her hair, but kept trying to stay on SCD. After six months her son had another GI scan and three of his five major lesions had healed completely, two more were about a third of their former size and the hyperplasiatic nodes were almost gone. That story STILL brings tears to my eyes. I'm not saying that we should give our kids crap once in a while, I believe in being very strict. But when the little screw ups happen, I remember this story and keep going. Thought you might like it too. : D
Guest guest
Thanks all for the encouragement! My son is a grabber, we're going to have exposures-we just are. He did have a nasty reaction to the lotion, and then he felt better and ate some chap stick. *sigh* I'm not introducing any new foods for a few days, we'll see. Please tell me they out grow this part! (He's 3, ASD) Teena SCD 2 weeks PS, lots of language development-if only he would talk at last! Guest guest
He will. I think his pica will disappear once his gut starts functioning properly and he can absorb the nutrients from food better. Hang in their Mom. You're doing great.
