Guest guest
Hi guys..... I really need your help / advice concerning my use of zofran to control nausea. In the past three or four weeks I have had increasing levels of nausea. I increased my dosage of zofran from 4mgs every 8 hours or so that I am taking 12mgs every four hours. My pharmacist said it was ok to take extra occasionally but I am not sure how short " occasionally " is. So three questions relating to this are: 1). can you take too much zofran? per day or over time? 4mg doesn't make a dent in that ickky feeling....8mgs will help a little...but it is the third pill (12mgs) when I can actually feel it working. The nausea is so bad that it wakes me up at night, thinking that I am going to upchuck at anytime......makes me not want to eat at all.....keeps me from falling asleep....and basically I am just sitting here at work trying not to cry from the ickky feeling..... 2). Is there such a thing as a rebound effect with this? That is, by taking more and more am I actually making it worse....when my body can only be nausea free if I have the meds in them because I have " reset " my not-nausea level? 3). I have been trying to figure out possible reasons for this and the only new thing that I am doing differently is taking Pangestyme - 4 pills with meals (about once maybe twice a day). I know that nausea is a common side effect but it doesn't seem to have any relationship to when I take them...it can be 12 to 18 hours after I eat and the nausea is still really bad......and I stop taking them over the weekend to see if the level would decrease or go away and it didn't...... I really need advice here as I think I am reaching my limits of coping with this .......but I do not know of any alternatives at this point.......... Guest guest
I'm not sure about taking the 12mg of Zofran but it sounds to me it is your enzymes you are taking. I was put on Viokase and Ihad the same feeling just real nauseated all the time and I had my doctor put me back on the Lipram. I would contact your doctor because the Zofran is really expensive and your insurance will only cover so much per month. I would hate for you to run out and not have any on hand. Have you been having regular bowel movements? Are you on Pain medication? Both of these will cause nausea.
