Guest guest
Hello All, I just wanted to check in with everyone and tell you how I am doing 6 months out. First and foremost...I have lost 75 lbs plus 10 before surgery for a grand total of 85 lbs in the year 2000. Not bad...don't you think! I am excited. As for my health, I feel great and am more able to move about, exercise and am not nearly as limited as I was six short months ago...I can sit in the floor AND get back up. I have gone from a size 32 in most things to a size 22 in many things....but bigger on the bottom. Still... it is amazing. I can eat some of almost anything...Still eat too much sugar...wish it made be sick! Rarely get ill on anything anymore, but sometimes need to lay down after a meal if I eat too quickly. This last weekend, my husband and I went to Sunset Beach where we have been many times before with some friends. There is a neighboring island...Bird Island that you can walk to. In the six or seven times that we have been there, I have only walked there once, and I was TOTALLY and completely exhausted. VERY TIRED...Couldn't imagine how far it was down there. Well... this weekend we walked down there the first day, and I couldn't believe what an EASY walk it was. Why did I think it was so far before....I wasn't even really tired after we had walked back. The next day...we rented bikes and I rode down there and visited the mailbox of the Kindred Spirit. I promised him that next year I would be back and I was planning on jogging down there! I hadn't been on a bike in 15 years. What a way to celebrate the 6th month anniversary of my wls. My husband was nearly giddy he was so excited for me. We took pictures...the whole thing.... more for my weight loss album... The next day...I walked back to Bird Island again...I was just so amazed I had to keep making sure that I REALLY could do it. Needless to say...I am back in my exercise routine after the few days at the beach. I came home and went for a two mile walk this morning with my doggie...I don't know which is more amazing...that I could do this...or that I could ENJOY doing this. When you aren't lugging around all the extra weight, it is an amazing difference. I have new walking shoes, an exercise watch...cushie socks...You know...all the things Jock Woman....my new name....needs! This surgery has given me back my life...and because I HAVE one...I am very grateful to have my life back. I am healthy...I am well...I have a long way to go, but I am fully on my way... Thanks Dr. R...I will never be able to repay you for the gifts this surgery has given me...a new body, a new outlook, more years, great friends...great health....I could go on and on....Thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you need a contact, write me directly and I am happy to share my journey with you. Safe journey, MGB 03 MAY 00 03 NOV 00 -75 lbs! Safely on the other side!!!!
