Guest guest
Hi! This is Rhonda from Indiana. I just wanted to let you know I do understand the correlation. My husband is a recovering alcoholic. He will have 11 years of sobriety in March. I truly feel that the disease I have is so similar to his, I just chose a different substance. I spent a lot of time beating myself up because I thought I should be able to " get it " in Overeaters Anon. I also know what you mean by you will learn who your real friends are. My husband ended up with just about a whole new set of friends. You know, stay out of old playgrounds. I also have a very close friend who does not want me to have this surgery. She is truly afraid for my well being. I told her that I appreciate her concern, but this is something I have researched and spent a lot of time thinking about and praying about. I really believe this is what God has led me too. She asked me several questions, Are you sure you have tried everything? How about if we try together?....and so on. I told her I have tried all the diets I am going to try and I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. She does not necessarily like my decision but she is respecting it. In fact, she is staying with my kids while my husband and I are gone. I really appreciate her friendship. She is a real friend. She was not afraid to tell me how she felt but also respects my decision. I will be leaving for Durham November 27. I will be at clinic on the 28th and have surgery on the 30th at . I am soooooo excited!!! I have been working on this since about April. I was beginning to think I wasn't supposed to have surgery. I will be a self-pay because Cigna and I have not seen quite eye to eye on this. I will be filing a formal complaint against them through the Indiana Insurance Commission. I can't remember where you are at in the process. I wish you the best wherever you are in the process. I so dig you people on this list. I'll be sending more prayers to Durham on the 27th!! I wish we had a list of names of folks having the surgery each week, so I could add their names to my prayers...
