Guest guest
Hi all! We are going to be traveling to the US soon and have several questions about travel and SCD! Please help us! 1. Can you recommend any type or chain of restaurants to eat at that we could trust would comply to our strict diet? 2. Is there any prepared meats in the grocery store which we might be able to pick up and eat without doing anything to it? 3. Which yogurt maker is the best one? I want to buy one to bring back to Norway. 4. Please recommend a chewing gum we could use on the plane for my son that is ok on SCD! (6 yrs) Thank you so much!!! Guest guest
, The best thing to do with eating out is to stick with non fast food restaurants. Choose restaurants where you can order things like grilled steak, chicken, and fish. What you must do is explain to the server(perhaps even ask for the manager) that your son has very, very severe allergies. Ask them to use a clean pan, and to cook his food in that clean pan with no seasonings on it(salt & pepper yourself). Do the same with any veggies. Ask for a clean pan to be used in steaming his veggies. Most places are very understanding. I'd be surprised if you can find any already cooked meats in the grocery that are legal. Will you be staying in a hotel? If so, you could buy an inexpensive steamer at a store for about $30 or less. You could buy fruits and veggies at the grocery, and then steam them in your room. You could actually buy some sort of indoor mini grill or electric skillet to cook meats for him as well. Then, you could just take his food to the restaurants with you. This is what I do for our son when we eat out(take it with us already made). I don't know any legal chewing gum. Meleah travel advice Hi all! Guest guest
hi, , I can't answer most of these questions, but I want to tell you that I had to buy my yogurt maker online. I went to all the health food stores and housewares stores in my area and no one carried them. So I thought maybe I would save you some time hunting in stores in the US by letting you know. Have a great trip, , mom to > 3. Which yogurt maker is the best one? I want to buy one to bring back > to Norway.
