Guest guest
it's day 9 for us on the SCD and i'm feeling pretty good. the fatigue and aches are gone, and my daughter's stools are slowly losing the black color. she does not scratch her eczema much since starting SCD, and when she does it's only once or twice (before the scratching could go on for 10 minutes, until the patch bled). it was horrible trying to restrain her from scratching and so of course it's been wonderful not having to deal with that. we have been moving through the stages probably too quickly. we've tried everything in stage 1 and most of stage 2. i also " cheated " and borrowed 1T of lemon juice from stage 3 to make mayo. this has really been helpful for getting those steamed veggies down. a few times i see her itchy immediately after ingesting a food and i've removed those suspicious foods for now. zucchini of all things seems to make ME nauseous and she doesn't care for it either, in steamed pureed form. also broiled chicken leg gives us gas. the bananas seem to be OK now (thank goodness) and i want to try coconut again, because i want to get those probiotics in her. i tried making my own coconut milk from shredded coconut, but when it came out of the dehydrator 10 hours later, the solids had really solidified into a hard mass at the top and i couldn't get them to mix in again. i guess it's the same problem we've all been having with the homemade coconut milk. i couldn't find coconut milk online without illegals. apparently there were some companies that were just not stating the sucrose on their label. anyone have any ideas? i'm either going to buy the coconut milk with guar gum (they say it's just trace amounts) or try the goat yogurt and proceed very very slowly as others have advised. the hardest thing has been going to family/friend functions and smelling all the wonderful foods we used to eat...and then unpacking my applesauce and hamburger meat and eggs - yuck- i can't wait to move on to another stage. thank you everybody for answering all my questions. i don't see how i could have stayed on this diet without all this help. silvia daughter (2) with eczema, sensitivity to dairy for both of us
