Question about anti reaction to contrast meds

Hi,

Well, tomorrow I am going for a CT Scan, and because I've been

having gradually getting worse reactions to the past few CT scans, I

have been given a prescription of 50mg x2 tablets of

Methylpredisonolone to take (50mg midnight and 50mg at 12pm). When

the pharmacist today told me that all he had was 4mg tablets, my

husband got concerned that if that is the usual dose, then 50mg

twice was awfully strong. I rang the doctor on call back this

evening, and he spoke to the radiologist who said that it could be

lowered to 32mg both times.

My husband, who hates any drugs of any sort, looked it up on the

net, and I'm getting scared about taking them. I did tell him that

these people were on it for days or weeks, but then the only

difference between me and them is that i'm taking 8 times as much in

one hit. I am now worried about the side effects, yet I am also

scared that if I don't take them my reaction to the contrast could

be much much worse than it has been before.

I guess if the symptoms of these tablets get too scary for me, I can

get to a hospital and they can reverse the effects somehow. If

anyone has taken these before, I'd be greatful for any info on how

it has affected you. Sorry I haven't given much time for this

message, I was out of state all day, and actually didn't have my

mind working properly, knew my ct scan was tomorrow, but thinking I

didn't need to get the script until next monday duhhhhhhhhh *L*

I start these things in 1 1/2 hours...
