Guest guest
Blood clots are a risk for any surgery. As well as you can get a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) that is a blood clot in the leg and it can travel up to the lung (pulmonary embolus - PE) and you don't even have to have surgery. With a DVT you will develop pain in the leg and with a PE you will have difficulty breathing and shortness of breath. Heparin IV drip and coumadin by mouth is the treatment for both.
