Guest guest
My daughter was in the same position as your son in November 2008. She was 14 months 3 weeks when she got her STARband. never protested wearing her band. After a while, she wanted to wear it during her "off" time. By the end, she had separation anxiety with it. She wore it until nearly 21 months of age. Sleep was a littel bit of a challenge, but she adjusted after a little while. One thing we did was also get her older brother a bike helmet. He wanted his helmet all of the time for a couple of days. We also made a big deal about how beautiful that she looked. I'm not sure if any of it made any difference, but she never tried to take it off. Even now, she is proud when she sees it and wants me to put it on her. Of course, it doesn't fit any more. She also thinks it is totally cool when she sees other babies or pictures of other babies in bands. In terms of correction, it isn't too late. Hope for growth spurts - they still happen at this age, but they are less frequent. I would love to keep hearing about the progress so keep us posted. , mom to , 2 2/3 years STARband grad May 11, 2009 Chiro and CST land Just banded yesterday I was geared for the worst and I am telling you the experience couldn't have been more easy. They put the helmet on his head. he grabbed at it a bit. My husband and I practiced taking it on and off. The orthotist made adjustments and Levi just wore it with no protest. Today is our official day 1, the band goes on for an hour and off an hour all day and so far it is like it isn't there. It has been a non issue so far. He doesn't have to sleep in it for a couple days, we'll see how it goes, but so far he is doing great. I am so proud.I did cry when they first put it on his head. He just looks so cute in it and it doesn't bother him, I couldn't be happier right now. At 14.5 months old we may have challenges with him trying to take it off. Now I am hoping for some noticeable correction. He is already perfect to me he can only get more perfect, right?I'll post pictures under the L's in a day or two. Thanks for all the support.KarinLevi 14.5 months old--Banded May 4, 2010
