Guest guest
Hi Janet, I understand your anxieties regarding the pancreatectomy, especially considering what you have already been through. I had a total pancreatectomy in 2000 (no Islet cell transplant), at the age of 40. If you have faith in your doctor, listen to what he says, but make sure you ask plenty of questions. I think, what helped me, was thinking about how i felt at the time, and how i could expect to feel once i'd recovered from the surgery. Yes, it is a big operation, and you need to make sure it is the right thing for you personally. Since i had the operation, everything hasn't been completely straightforward, but i definately know it was the right decision for me. My quality of life is much improved. Infact, i really don't know where i'd be today, had i not had it done. I have absolutely no regrets. If you want to know anything else, please don't hesitate to contact me. Best wishes.
