Guest guest
Hello everyone! Well, I took my mom to my neuro yesterday (he has been treating her for mild Parkinson's) & he told me my lumbar puncture tests were in & all came back negative. I was happy to hear that as he has been testing me for M.S. So I asked him if he was sure that I do not have M.S. He said yes. YEAH!! So now I nail him.... I told him he has been testing & treating me for M.S. for 3 years now so GET OVER IT!! Then I asked where do we go from here. He said he's almost positive that it is Transverse Myelitis & that I will most likely have it all of my life. The pain, migraines & everything else for the rest of my life. He changed my meds & put me on Zoloft 50mg. I have been reading a few of you talking about this med. & it has given me a little hope that things will get better. (possitive attitude never hurt anyone)LOL Aisha, I'm joining you today with the change for the better! I took a little walk today & am planning on doing it again tomorrow. It kind of felt good to get out (even though it was 35 degrees outside, YUCK I don't like cold weather). I do need to start being more mobile as I'm afraid of losing what mobility I still have. How are you doing?? Would love to hear from you about this dx. I also received my MRI reports yesterday, & on my most recent report it states that I have degenerative disk disease & a bulging disk. (my neuro never told me that). I still don't know what to think of him. Anyway, if you are still interested in seeing the reports, let me know & I'll try to figure this thing out by scanning them & emailing them to you. I don't like to impose on you with my problems when you are not feeling good yourself. You have enough to worry about. Take care of you like you said. We are all worried & care about you. Hang in there!! Barb : )

Guest guest
Hi Barb! Good news about the lumbar puncture! YEAH!!! "He said he's almost positive that it is Transverse Myelitis" Ok now what is that? "Zoloft 50mg" How are you doing on it. Thats still quite a small dose of Zoloft. Gwydi's on it for depression. He's never allowed to stop taking it says I LOL. I am surprised he put you on Zoloft and not a triptyline. Its what they usually try first. Only piece of advice I have for you is to NEVER stop suddently taking the zoloft. (Or the loftys as we call em here lol) as it can cause sudden flares of the orriginal condition if you suddenly stop taking medication that affects brain chemistry (accept of course if your Dr tells you to.) And it is a low dose you are on so if it helps but not enough I am sure if you talked to your Dr you could increase the dose. Has it helped at all? Guest guest
Oops - hit send by mistake. Anyway, after several weeks of phone tag and some missing blood tests, I finally got to talk to my doctor! Crohn's - negative IBD - negative Candidiasis - negative per scope Celiac - he called me a "low-penetration celiac." Has anyone ever heard this term? When pressed to explain what the penetration refers to, he simply said that it is a form of gluten intolerance that could become full-blown celiac if I continued to eat gluten. So - gluten-free for me! He actually has some firsthand experience with the cross-contamination issue. When he was a resident, he had a fellow resident with severe celiac. She kept getting sick and nobody could figure out why. They finally called the potato chip manufacturer to discover they used wheat starch to adhere the flavorings! I am glad that he knows this and also that he felt it was important to share it with me. He also told me that, although this is a restrictive diet, there are many yummy recipes out there and it need not be a bad experience. --Trudy San , CA "People who believe in absurdities will eventually commit atrocities." ~Voltaire
