Guest guest
Yes, lamb is permitted on the intro diet...just use ground lamb as it is easier to digest. The same goes for beef. Ground beef is much easier to digest than other cuts. Meleah New with intro diet question - re lamb. Hi I've ordered my BTVC book from Amazon. They say delivery may take up to 10 weeks but from experience I usually receive things in about 2 - 3 weeks. (I'm in New Zealand and things take longer...I'd LOVE 2 day shipping!) I'm planning on doing the SCD myself and I'd like to get started on the intro diet next week. I think I won't have a problem doing 5 days. I haven't been able to find out so far at what point lamb is allowed. I have a problem with eggs so I think that just leaves chicken and beef for protein at the beginning...and I just wanted to double check on the lamb and when that's recommended. In 1991 I did a five day lamb and pears diet before reintroducing other foods. I had read a book written in the 1980's by a British allergy and diet doctor - Mackarness - who suggested this method for discovering food allergies. Lamb and pears were supposed to be 2 of the most allergenic foods and that's why they were used. On reintroducing foods one at a time I was supposed to measure my heart rate 5 minutes after trying the new food then again an hour (I think) later. I felt terribly sick for the 5 days on lamb and pears (and water) and I wonder now if that's partly because they are actually carbohydrate specific and I had massive die off! Since then I've spent years on an anti candida diet that didn't seem to help at all. (Too many grains and complex carbohydrates I think.) Anyway, I found my way here through a Chronic Fatigue Syndrome support group who have been looking very closely at what's working in the Autism community. I've read the Baker and Pangborn book where the SCD is endorsed so enthusiastically and I've waded my way through the first several thousand archived messages on this board. Still 57,000 or so to go! I'll try not to ask too many questions in the forum. Once my book arrives I'll be able to get a better handle on how to manage the whole thing. If someone can help me with the lamb question in the meantime I'd be very grateful! Anne (CFS FMS for 21 years.)

It can be awfully greasy. > I have a problem with eggs so I think that just leaves chicken and > beef for protein at the beginning...and I just wanted to double check > on the lamb and when that's recommended. You may eventually develop tolerance for eggs. I did almost immediately. Dry Curd Cottage Chese is on the intro and rich in protein > > In 1991 I did a five day lamb and pears diet before reintroducing > other foods. > I felt terribly sick for the 5 days on lamb and pears (and water) and > I wonder now if that's partly because they are actually carbohydrate > specific and I had massive die off! Or possibly because of the repititon and limitation and lack of vegetables and variety? Carol F. SCD 7 years, celiac
Guest guest
Chicken, beef and fish are allowed on intro..... lamb can be eaten right AFTER intro. The Intro Diet only needs to be done for two days (unless you have severe diarrhea, then up to five days). So, you can probably live without lamb that long, eh? Welcome to the list.
