Laurie,

I asked my pain doctor and my pharmacist for oxycodone 5 mg in tablet form and

they both told me it doesn't come in tablets. When I'm in the hospital, they

sometimes give me oral pain meds when I can tolerate them. They always give me

little white tablets that they say are oxycodone. My pain doctor said they have

to be percocet, even though my doctor writes the order for Oxy IR 5 mg.

Maybe I should check with a different pharmacy because sometimes I think 1/2 of

the oxycodone 5 mg would be enough.

Janet,

there are other meds out there that can be used for breakthrough pain

meds that do not have Tylenol in them. I'm on Oxycodone (same stuff as

in Oxycotin, but only in short acting form - Oxycotin is a time released

version of Oxycodone) for my breakthrough med. Also, there is MSIR,

morphine Instant release. There is also Actiq, fentanyl in a lollipop

form. Those are the ones I know of off hand. If others out there have

other recommendations of breakthrough pain meds that do not include

tylenol, please let Janet know what they are.

,

oxycodone 5mg does come in tablet form. I know because that's what I

take for my breakthrough medication. I get the actual bottle they are

packaged in and they are NOT percocet.
