Guest guest
It is way more likely that it is heat rash. That is fairly common. My daughter used to get it now and then in the side burn area. I would let the hydrocort. lotion dry then put the band on and she was fine. It won't hurt to leave the band off though if you're not sure what it is. It should clear up quickly. I wouldn't put the cream on her eyelid though. Also make sure you are cleaning the band well with only alcohol. Some people try cleaning with other products such as shampoo or use powder, but those things can irritate the skin of some babies. -christine sydney, 5 yrs, starband grad > > Our 5 month old daughter was fitted for her CT Doc Band last Friday and we had zero complaints....until this evening (day 4). Initially, she took to the Band very well, so well that we decided to go full throttle and keep it on 23 hours on Day 2. It was only this evening that she was squirmy at bath time. I could not see anything on her head, no pink spots at all. Then after I dried her off I noticed little teenie tiny red bumps on her forehead and left eyelid...heat rash! > The consensus online seems to be to use 1% Hydrocortisone cream and keep the band off until the rash disappears. My fear is that she is allergic to the foam lining of her band. I am not only worried about her discomfort but feel as though it is a small step backwards....the clock is ticking in terms of her growth and we do not want to see her wearing it more than the 6-8 weeks they guess-timated she'd need it. > > Any advice with regards to preventing future heat rash? Guest guest
I wanted to recommend using a brand new bottle of 91% alcohol. The first few days my son was wearing his DOC band I used the bottle that I had in the bathroom. After realizing it wasn't cleaning it very well I got new bottles and it did a much better job. I'm not sure if alcohol expires but it sure seemed like it does. My son also got heat rash the first weekend. I wasn't talking it off and wiping it enough. Lesson learned. After 1 1/2 days off with hydrocortisone cream he was able to wear it again.Hopefully your daughter is just dealing with a simple heat rash and just part of the adjustment period.
