Guest guest
Sheila, How much s. boulardii are you taking now? Charlene Hi Dana, << I am very interested in this also because my two boys are not responding as well as I would like to the diet. It seems like they are having yeast issues >> What symptoms do you feel may be from yeast? What foods are they eating? How is the food cooked? Approximate ratios of foods? Any treatment for yeast (Prescription, supplement etc..)? << I was just wondering if I could treat for it with S. Boulardii without truly knowing if Clostridia is the issue. Is S Boulardii safe to use if you do not know for sure? >> I have been tested many times for Clostridia and it continues to come back negative . I had multiple doses of antibiotics and flare-ups this year. I discussed Saccharomyces boulardii with my GI after a check up following a week long hospital stay. He said that some testing indicated that taking S. boulardii *may* be helpful in Clostridia overgrowth. My GI is extremely conservative in what he will give any credence to (he's still not big on diet) After doing some investigating on my own it seems that S. boulardii may be helpul in preventing antibiotic induced diarrhea/colitis. There is a lot of info on the net about S. boulardii. Here are some: http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi? artid=105172 & tools=bot http://www.allergyresearchgroup.com/proddesc/discuss/SBoulardiiPDFProduc tSheet050905.pdf http://www.aidsinfonyc.org/pwahg/info/sacc.html http://www.thebody.com/pwa/sacc.html I have had persistent yeast overgrowth over the past couple of years and the S.boulardii *seems* to be helping with it. I finally started to have solid stool and was able to tolerate yogurt again (S.boulardii is supposed to help good bacteria create a better micro-organism balance in the body). If you decide to try it start with a small amount in case there is a yeast reaction/allergy. (Don't take it if you have a true known yeast allergy). It will also likely cause die off so gradually increase it and use the usual die off fighters (epsom salt baths and/or activated charcoal) accordingly.
