I think their coconut cream is just concentrated coconut milk.... so it's had

all the fiber strained out. I know drinks plenty of fluid, so I think

letting him eat it off the spoon is probably okay. That would be my only

concern, if someone was not inclined to drink much throughout the day.

Since needs the calories, I think it's fine.

coconut as advanced food

Patti,

I can see that coconut is an advanced food because of the fibers in the

coconut. However, what about Tropical Traditions' coconut cream? I have been

using it as a base for a smoothie drink, but found out how good it actually

tastes, just by itself. Recently I have let have several tablespoons of

it a day out of the jar, in addition to using a tablespoon or two in the drink.

Would the coconut cream be OK, do you think? There doesn't seem to be fiber in

the cream. I probably am giving him maybe 4-5 tablespoons total per day, but all

at one time as I prepare the drink and then the drink itself.

Hi Patty,

We want to use the cocnut cream too at some point but when I went on the

Tropical Traditions web site it said that the cocnut cream is " certified organic

whole coconut meat in concentrated form " . Is this still OK?

Thanks,

Thatcher

Correction to my earlier statement about the coconut cream concentrate from

Tropical Traditions. This has NOT had all the fiber strained out..... it's all

in there. They do, however, grind the dried coconut into a very fine powder

first, so it may be much easier to digest than shredded dried coconut, and

possibly easier even than coconut flour.... although I'm not really sure on

that. I do know two families who are *fairly* new to SCD who are using it and

doing well. But it may be that we shouldn't recommend it for brand new

beginners. I would think of this as very similar to a nut butter. If and when

you try it, go with a small amount to start with and see how it goes.

thanks, all.....
