Guest guest
Hi I'm also new to the group. I posted last week for the first time. I now have a severely enlarged spleen. I am 56 and my heart goes out to those who suffer with this disease that are so young. My first attack was when I was 30. I had my gallbladder removed two years latter. I was fortunate not to have any more serious attacks until 3 years ago. I always had that pain though under my ribs that wrapped around to your back and up your shoulder blade. But I just lived with it....it just became something that was constant companion. I believe my duct has narrowed greatly and that is the problem I am having now.....SOD attacks. I am on 20 grams of fat only a day but still the pain is there. It is on my right side under my ribs and it bores through to my back. Now, I also have tenderness under my left ribcage and on the left side of my back because of my spleen. I am trying to understand the connection between the pancreas and the spleen. My liver enzymes are always a little elevated. I have an appointment with a hematolgist on Tuesday. I see him for a blood condition that may contribute to the fact that my spleen is swollen or it might be the pancreatitis. I wonder if I'll ever know why I suffer with all this pain. Most days I just bare the pain and hope that I can sleep at night. The pressure inside my ribcage is great and I can actually feel the swollen spleen when I lay down. It is so hard to find a comfortable position for sleeping. I only have oxyIR for the pain if it gets bad. I had a very bad SOD attack in July. It hit at Walmart. I was alone shopping and barely made it to my Mom's house 2 blocks away. They were in Florida at the time. There was no way I could have made it to the hospital. So now, just maybe Tuesday I'll get some answers. It's so nice to have someone to talk to about this. My husband is wonderful but there is no way anyone could understand the pain this disease causes unless you suffer with it. Warm thoughts to all....Pam ga
