Guest guest
My daughter has refused fluids so we tried the electrolyte recipe. She does so well on that, that she won't take anything else. She's been peeing more than ever, (she never pee'd much to begin with), and this morning she awoke completely saturated in pee from top to bottom, front to back. Today, I mixed electrolyte with grape juice and hope to slowly replace the electrolyte with water. Is there a limit as to how long she should be on the electrolyte or how much she should get? For a few days, she didn't drink anything, but I'm thinking she's recovered from that. Also, I've noticed a lot of drooling which makes me think she's hungry. I feed her 3-4 times a day at least. Is it normal to have to feed a child more than that on this diet? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! Guest guest
Cheryl, I think you're on track with the fluids, and your idea of slowly replacing the electrolyte solution with diluted juice is just fine. I imagine her whole system is adjusting and things will normalize when it comes to the amount of peeing. Frequent meals is just fine.... in fact, ideal I think, on SCD. I don't know if the drooling means she hungry... but it is common for new SCD kids to have raging appetites for a while. It's like their little bodies are going " WOW!! FINALLY! Some good nutrients!! " You're doing great... keep it up. Patti Day 7, When to stop electrolyte? Drooling... My daughter has refused fluids so we tried the electrolyte recipe.
