Hello there, I am sure you get lots of questions about the goat

yoghurt. Sorry to ask again but, I am ready to start making for my

daugher who has been SCD for 3 months. If we start on 1/8 teaspoon

per day, what is the recommended amount to make first (how long does

it last for) as I would like to avoid any waste. I have bought yoghurt

starter from GI Health but only gives amounts for USA, can anyone give

me a good idea (in metric) for how much milk and how much starter.

Thank you. Venessa.

Yogurt will have lively bacteria for approximately two weeks if

refrigerated at about 2-5°C, but will last refrigerated for three

weeks (ie. not go bad).

1 US quart is about 0.94 L. So, you can use 1 rounded 1/8 tsp to

make 1 L of goat yogurt. (It is better to have a little more yogurt

starter than not enough in the milk). If you have a 1/16 teaspoon

measure you can add that to 500 mL of goat milk.

If you haven't used all the goat yogurt up in two weeks you can use

the remainder in cooking or make ice cream, or goat cream cheese

(dripped goat yogurt). Your daughter may have to wait to consume the

goat ice cream or another family member could use up the extra goat

yogurt.
