Guest guest
I'm curious what you think about banana quantity as well. My 2 year old is crazy for bananas. I pulled them for a week because even though they were ripe I was scared that there was a possibility they were adding to the constipation. But he has had 2 a day for a two days (and would eat the whole bunch if I didn't put them under lock and key) and today he had 3 small-ish bm's and one very large one so I feel like we're heading in the right direction even with bananas. He is eating 3 spinach-sicles a day and 3 or 4 squash-sicles. I gave him a choice between the two this evening and he actually chose the spinach! Another interesting thing that happened was that I offered him some peaches and he turned them down flat. He LOVED peaches before we started this diet just a few weeks ago. So I pulled out the pears and he ate a whole bowl full. Maybe just a fluke, but I wonder if he somehow knew that peaches were not a good choice yet. He even attempted to wave bye to me this evening. It has been months and months since he has done that.
Guest guest
I wonder if the little white things in her stools are yeast coming out. When you say her stools are still very soft, do you mean peanutbutter consistency? Can you liken it to something for us? It sounds like you're on the right track, and you're very observant of her behaviors to know that she wasn't doing well with the honey and nut flour. Did she have sandy texture to her stools prior to SCD? Meleah how many bananas... Hello again is eating more things now. She loved the butternut squash fries this time. I made popsicles to give her other fruits different than banana and she loves them, so thank you for the idea. She's hungry all the time and wants to eat bananas very often, she takes my hand and points to the bananas and even try to say the word to get them!!! (That's a big deal in my house!). My question is how many bananas can a 3 year-old eat without problem? I'm giving her only 2 per day. The only thing that still bothers me is that her stools are very, very soft, VERY sandy and today I notice little white particules that look like very little pieces of egg shell. I stoped using nut because I thought the little particules were undigested nuts. I'm not using honey because I notice she got very active after eating sweet things even with honey. She's not eating bacon or pork rinds any more (good!). Mostly eggs, meat once a day, green beans, carrots, butternut squash, zuccini (first time today), pears (popsicles) y bananas, MUCHAS BANANAS . I'm very thankful for this diet, she has improved so much! I can see that she sees things more clearly and even when she's not saying any words yet, she communicates in some other way. We're amazed of her every day little improvements and thank God and you for all your help. Any advice will be very appreciated. Guest guest
Hello Meleah Yes, that would be a very good description. Her stools have peanutbutter consistency and I'm not sure it is ammonia but the smell is very strong. She has had sandy stools for the last two years. I notice her stools were sandy after she started showing autistic behaviors. I don't know if there is any relation, but she showed these behaviors very clearly after she went from one infection to another for two entire months, from ear infection to a very severe sinus infection. Unfortunaly I dont remember the connection with vaccines (She got some here in America and some in Colombia, SA so I'm still a little confused with that matter) After that, she was never the same child... Anyway, I'm convinced she has a big problem with oxalates but she has yeast problems, too, so I couldn't be sure if the little white things are yeast or maybe some calcium-related sustance. ????? thanks for any information Ximena robin wrote: I wonder if the little white things in her stools are yeast coming out. Guest guest
Well, whether you remember specifics about vaccinnes or not, lots of meds from many infections can do damage to the gut and brain. Neverthless, you can do lots to swing her back the other way. My son had sandy stools for I don't know how long. I truly can't remember how long it was after beginning SCD that the stools firmed up and became a normal texture. I do know that he had the sandy, peanutbuttery stools before starting SCD. Oh, how I wish I could remember how long it took to normalize the stools for your sake. If you wonder about calcium oxilates, what about getting her started on a high dose cod liver oil? Green Pastures makes one. How long has your daughter been on SCD? Meleah Re: how many bananas... Hello Meleah Yes, that would be a very good description. Guest guest
Thank you, Meleah, for your insight on this. I feel better now that I learn that my daughter will eventually get better, just like your son. How long it takes is not really important, right? Knowing that with SCD will help her is enough for now. , 3, has been on the diet for 6 weeks. We're planning to start the vitamin K protocol and for that we already ordered the CLO from Green Pastures. It should arrive shortly. Now, please forgive my persistence, but, how many bananas do you think should be alright per day? Guest guest
I think that two is fine since she's not having any constepation issues. I wouldn't go over that though. I try to keep it at one for my son, but sometimes allow him to eat two. Meleah Re: how many bananas... Thank you, Meleah, for your insight on this. Guest guest
Two bananas per day is just fine. I depends on the child, of course.... that might be too many for some kids. If she's feeling good and not having huge yeast issues, there is no harm in two bananas for a 3 yr old. I only worry when a child wants to self-limit to bananas only, or something. If you feel the bananas are causing the very soft stools, though.... the only way to know for sure if this is a problem is to pull them completely out, see how she does for a few days, then add them back. Remember..... be sure they are nice and RIPE! Patti how many bananas... She's hungry all the time and wants to eat bananas very often, she takes my hand and points to the bananas and even try to say the word to get them!!! (That's a big deal in my house!). My question is how many bananas can a 3 year-old eat without problem? I'm giving her only 2 per day.
