Guest guest
I don't know whether this will ever end completely because she may by now have enough damage to have chronic pancreatitis but any doctor says she has to " deal " is a doctor you want to get as far away from as possible. If the stents work and then she gets sick afterwards that tells me alot. There is a procedure where they " balloon " the duct open just like they do a heart artery. I had great success with it for four years and then had to have it done again in October. I have been sick off and on since June and hospitalized 7 times. The last three were after they ballooned that duct again but am now finally coming out of it. Any time you have a procedure on the pancreas or ducts, the risk for flaring up the pancreas are great. They had great success with the ballooning. When the specialist in SC did the test to check the pressures, that duct was closed up again which can happen. So he did the ballooning technique on it again and it is open. Don't let them tell you there is nothing more they can do. Maybe the doc she is going to cannot do anymore because he is not trained in the other procedures. Alot of GI docs are not trained in even putting in stents. The pancreas is another specialty away from gastroenterology. The information I was given at MUSC was that the stent itself has no therapeutic value but they put them in after an ERCP to let the duct drain so that the procedure does not cause a huge flare of the pancreas which it sounds like your daughter is having. She is getting a little relief from just having the duct open but the stent comes out and she is sick again. She needs something that will give her longer relief. Again, these docs just have not gone far enough with her. Everyone in this group has dealt with docs telling us we are drug addicts, our enzymes are not up so we can't be hurting or have pancreatitis, etc. That is nothing but a big lie by docs who don't know what they are doing. A person who truly knows pancreatitis will tell you that the enzymes don't have to even go up and yes we hurt when the enzymes are not up. Likewise, sometimes the enzymes are sky high and you don't hurt never knowing you have pancreatitis! I hope this helps you some. Feel free to ask any other questions you can think of.
