Guest guest
Lesley, I know this is way late, but I've been offline for a week visiting my grandmother. I also have a pancreas divisum (p.d.) and chronic pancreatitis (c.p.). And yes, you can get acute attack with c.p. and a corrected p.d. Unfortunately, it seems that once you have pancreatitis, you become many times more like to have an acute attack for any of the multitude ways of getting pancreatitis. And the more cases you have, the higher your risk of having another acute attack. I've been fighting pancreatitis snce 1986 and I have at least one acute attack every year, sometimes more. Also, you need to be aware that you can have acute attacks with your amylase and lipase levels being either normal or below normal. This is common for people with c.p. As for why you are still having pain, the reason the doctors haven't given you a reason is that they don't know. From this group and my own research online, I've found that there is a lot the doctors don't know about pancreatitis. I wish I could give you a straight answer as to why you have it, but I can't. As for what you do next when you find that the pancreas misbehaves for no reason? All you can do is take it one day at a time. Each day is a new day and how your pancreas will react that day isn't known until that time comes. Some days are bad and some days are good. This is why this group is here. To help anyone who has this disease deal with it it everyday. We cry, we laugh, we complain, we smile, and we support each other wit all the understanding and sympathy that we can give them and let them know that they AREN'T ALONE in dealing with this disease. So Lesley, you aren't alone and we are here for you and will do our best to help you in any way we can. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@...
