Guest guest
Hello everyone, With indescribable relief we found to-day that the MRI scan showed that there is no evidence of any spread of Jim's cancer beyond the prostate itself. The urologist was superb and explained everything to us very thoroughly, giving plenty of time for our questions as well. Jim has all the options open to him from active surveillance (doing nothing but monitor the PSA level over time) through radical prostatectomy through radiotherapy through brachytherapy. The doc talked about them all but he is a surgeon and would do the RP if Jim opts for that. He has been referred to an oncologist/radiotherapist as well so that he can hear about the radiotherapy option in as much detail as we had to-day on the surgery option. The two docs work closely together as part of the multi-disciplinary team. Unfortunately Jim is ill just now and actually ended up being sent to hospital (and kept in overnight at the weekend) for a chest infection. He's still weak but hopefully this very positive news will boost his spirits! It has certainly boosted mine after several very difficult weeks while the various tests were being carried out. Thank you to all of you lovely people who have sent us good wishes over the last few weeks. I have a lot of e-mails to send this evening so I'll sign off with love and warm wishes to all, Fliss (UK)
