Guest guest
We started the diet on Thanksgiving for Ben, and did the intro diet for 3 days. He had his first " trophy " on Day 3, and we were so excited. Well, we eased him into the next week and started adding things slower, including the nut butters. First cashew butter, and we still had formed stool. Then almond butter. Well, ever since then we have haven't had the trophies (now about 2 weeks without one). Even the days without it, we still don't see the trophies, granted on those days he might be getting the almond flour, in the form of chicken fingers or the Digestive Wellness Almond Cookies (egg free). We started No-Fenol this week (bad issues with salicylates), as well as epsom salt baths (just 1/8 cup in bath, as he is very sensitive), and he seems to do well with both of them. We already use the activated charcoal, which our DAN doc said only use 1-2tx per week. Occassionally with the worse stools, we see bad behavior with it (used to be that way ALL THE TIME), but now MOST of the time even with the looser stools (mostly light brown/tan/gold in color) his disposition is fantastic! It's amazing. Now today he is " out of it " a bit. He seems to have gone through several " die-offs " since we started a few weeks ago...could that be the case? BRIGHT Red cheeks, silly crazy behavior, lots of spinning. The epsom salt baths seem to take away the red cheeks and calm him down considerably. It has been this past week that we have seen a lot of the red cheeks and bad behavior with it. He has bad allergies to dairy and eggs, so I made the SCD goat yogurt last night (ready for tomorrow, I hope)...would this possibly help with the looser stools? How much should I start with? I am so worried about giving it to him, with the dairy issues, but it is a different casein. We just sent off the OAT & Yeast & Culture Sensivitiy Test with Great Plains. Has anyone else done this particular test? If so, what did it tell you? We aren't doing Nystatin anymore, but Ben seems to be doing well on MCT Oil. Our new DAN doctor mentioned Dyflucan and Valtrex (Ben's viral titers are " through the roof " ) possibly. I know the risk with the liver checks, and all. Anyone else doing either of these? I guess we will see... Maybe the MCT Oil is also causing die-off? Last night he had a really BAD stool, all up his back, gold colored, much looser, and smelled like vinegar. It actually smelled like the ones we sent off for heavy metal stool tests in August, the ones that came back with very high levels of antimony (fire retardent), mercury, lead and arsenic. Hmmm, any thoughts here? We aren't detoxing heavy metals now (used to be on glutathione gel and aerosol...very hard on Ben), but I did read that the epsom salt baths pull out the metals too, right? Anyone know what the vinegar smell is???? Any ideas are much appreciated.... :-) Ben, Age
