Hi Susie,

It sounds like you may have Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (SOD), because the

pain is worse when you take morphine. Morphine has been noted to aggravate

the Sphincter of Oddi. SOD is a pancreas problem, because the Sphincter of

Oddi is the muscle which regulates outflow from the pancreas.

You need to go see a pancreas specialist, which is a sub-specialty of

gastroenterology. There should be someone here who can direct you to a good

Doc in South Jersey. You also have the Philly metro area to draw on. s

Hopkins in Baltimore is only about an hour and a half to two hours south of

you as well.

Don't mess around with ER docs or family practice physicians. You absolutely

must see a specialist to get a definitive diagnosis.

You can PEM me with questions if you like.
