Hi,

Thanks for writing especially if you are bothered with carpal

tunnel. My sister has that and a lot of time, I write her notes for

work, etc. for her because she can't hold a pen.

had is appointment today. His protein was still high enough

that they didn't put him back on TPN. Yeah. All of his other blood

work was good too. Liver, kidneys, etc. He gained 2 pounds which is

good and hopefully this is beginning to simmer down a bit. He had

the preliminary test results from his camera test (wish I knew the

name) and it showed no further damage and the other organs are okay.

The stomach erosions were gone too. He is having a ?MRCP to see if

they can put in stents. His pain meds were increased a couple of

weeks ago and he does have a handle on his pain now and has more

energy etc. I hope if they put in stents it doesn't flare up the

pancreas again. They refer to his pancreas as " atrophic " They said

he didn't have a lot of viable pancreas left. The tail is okay.

This is what confuses me. If the ducts are part of the head of the

pancreas and that part is atrophic, shouldn't they bypass that part

and go to a viable part? They haven't discussed a transplant yet.

This is his first episode since his original year of acute, then

chronic pancreatitis. That time he had a pseudocyst (which is still

there) then he had kidney failure, pheumonia and was critically ill.

He had six treatments with injections in his back - nerve blocks -

but only one worked and not for long. He did follow with a pain

clinic at that time. He had patches that he wore and also took

methadone then. It took months to get off all the meds he was on.

He is doing good this week with just the am and pm dose of Oxy and

hasn't needed Vicodin, so we are praying this is beginning to be the

end of this episode. Reading what people on this list are going

through scares me to death. I don't know if it is good or not. I

guess I haven't accepted that this is a life long illness and we are

going to have ups and downs forever. I didn't mean to ramble on like

this. Sorry, thanks again for writing to me. Lnd
