Guest guest
> A " blanket statement " is a phrase used to cover a myriad of situations< - *** Thanks Jerry. I understand what the term means. In her case, a few days ago she was seen seperately by 3 surgeons at the office. Two of them, who were 5th year surgical residents, each explained in detail the reason for the pain, they were not " blanket statements " . By the way, this insision is 23 " long from side to side !!! The pain is from all that muscle tissue that was forcibly stretched and held together while being sewn back up. Both these residents were in the O.R at the time. After those 2 consults, her surgeon came in and discussed the case. He has been doing transplant surgery for 24 years. The wife said she had pain and he asked, " Where , is it on your left and right side where the incision ends " ? She responded, " Yes, how did you know that " ? He said " I knew it, it's quite common and nothing to be concerned about after only being 15 days post op " . He also explained the pain being from the healing of those abdominal and lateral stomach muscles, not a blanket statement. He said this pain will resolve itself in anywhere from a few more weeks to a month. Coming from a physician with a great reputation and 24 years of experience, we accept his explanation. In closing, we are satisfied so far with these explanations and taking one day at a time. Thanks for your input and Be Well, Doc. **
