Guest guest
I want to thank everyone who responded to my email the other day about my son vomiting green mucous. I had no idea that it was so urgent, so I thank you. After reading your responses, I called the GI doctor and they said to take him to the emergency room. I had been working with them for about a week and a half, regarding 's flare he has been having. At the ER they took an x-ray, labs, and gave him an IV. The x-ray didn't show an obstruction, (they said it looked like he was constipated-even though he had 2 bowel movements the day before). so he was dicharged, but the ER doctor was adament I take him in to see his GI on Friday. His regular GI doctor has been out all week so we were working with one of his coworkers all week. We saw her yesterday, after examing him, and hearing all of his symptoms he has been having, she thinks he might have a partial obstruction. He has pain in his stomach, his illeum off and on, is fine half the day, then in pain the other half, is vomiting once and a while, and for the first time in 2 1/2 years, or even maybe his whole life did not have a bowel movement on Friday March 16 nor on Thursday March 22 . So she has ordered another x-ray were he has to drink barium. This x-ray takes place on Tuesday. My question is does anyone else think that this is too long to wait since it is looking for a partial obstruction. She said that this is fine because she doesn't think it is a total obstruction since his symptoms are off and on, and since the x-ray didn't show one. She said if left untreated, a partial obstruction would just keep him in pain and vomiting, but not burst like a total obstruction. She ordered some pain/ naseau medicine that would coat his digestive system. Also, last night he had a bowel movement and then told me the inside of his rectum about 5 inches inside & up hurt. This is the first time he ever said this. The outside of his rectum sometimes hurts because of the diarreha, so he takes a bath and puts vaseline on it and is fine. But he said this time it didn't help because it hurts on the inside. He is still eating only SCD. But I don't know what else to do. If anyone has any thoughts or advice on this, we would appreciate it soo much! Thank you so much! Belle --------------------------------- Be a PS3 game guru. Guest guest
Belle, I'm sorry he's in so much discomfort. I would trust the doctor on this one. Tuesday will come along quickly, and then you'll know for sure what's up. I hope the medication helps him feel a bit better in the meantime. Is he eating all cooked fruits and veggies.... all very easy-to-digest, simple SCD foods at this time? I would recommend plenty of chicken soup broth and just very soft, cooked foods.
