Hi and welcome! Try looking at the suggestions in the Files section of the site.

My understanding is that acrylic paints can be peeled off fairly easily, but I

haven't tried. I think the primer will make the paint last, but it will make it

harder to peel off if you want to change the design. So, you should think about

whether you want to repaint any chipped/peeling areas periodically but keep the

same design or change designs every few weeks.

I used Rust-Oleum plastic spray paint to paint my son's DOC band, and it lasted

2 months with only 2 little touch-ups. However, I decided to change the design

and spent hours chipping at the paint with a straight razor. It really sticks,

so you'd have to be sure you mean it if you use a special paint for plastic.

BTW, this paint is both toxic and smelly at first, so you wouldn't want your

baby chewing on the helmet.

Also, if you do try to use spray paint, I'd suggest getting a cheap/disposable

brush and spraying the paint into a disposable container, then brushing it on.

If you spray the helmet directly, it's really difficult to keep any paint from

getting on the inside/edges/velcro, and it won't come off! Also, don't try to

clean the paint off with any chemical. You can only peel it off.

If painting sounds like too much of a hassle, you can buy vinyl stickers (paper

doesn't last as well) and stick them directly on the helmet, then coat them in

Mod Podge. The Mod Podge is available at craft stores. I got mine at Wal-Mart.

It comes in a little plastic container with a screw-on top, and you apply it a

little thick with a brush. It's basically like Elmer's glue but dries a little

more clear. It will hold the stickers on, but it peels right off when you want

it to with barely any effort. For stickers, try www.stickergiant.com or

www.blingyourband.com.

sealant, but am wondering if I should go through with painting the helmet. How

long does the process take? What if I screw up? Can you take the helmet back to

it's original white if you mess up?

Thanks!
