Guest guest
Hello, I am joining this group to find out all I can about chronic pancreatitis. This is the diagnosis my 28-year-old son has been given. He had a bout of acute pancreatitis four years ago and after a long hospitalization, then home TPN and pain treatment, he finally recovered. This August he suddenly had a recurrence of the pain he had originally. He has been suffering since. He has lost about 30 pounds. He is on a lot of pain medication. He takes enzymes everytime he eats. He never was a drinker either. He had a horrible period of constipation and ended up having two hemorrhoidectomies because of bleeding. He had injured the head part of his pancreas when he had the acute attack in 2000. They did a new test - he swallowed a camera and they analyzed 30-60 thousand shots taken with the camera. Tomorrow he is getting those results. It is very difficult to watch my son be so sick and not seem to get any better. Is this common in chronic pancreatitis for a flare up to last so long, or don't they recover like they do in acute pancreatitis. Thanks for sharing. What I have read so far sounds horrible. I am sorry all of you are going through this. Hope they find a cure. Lnd
