Guest guest
Hi, I used the " juice blocks " recipe on the back of the Knox box. It set up and was too hard to eat. I didn't use honey either. I think I got one bowl out of it. Does anyone have step by step instructions or an easy jello recipe? I only tried once though with the juice blocks. Thanks, Debbie, 37, cd SCD 1/
Guest guest
Knox gelatin responds differently than the boxes of Jell-O that you're probably used to. It's important to soften the gelatin in a cup of water for about 5 minutes - I use 4 packages to make blocks. (Stir to make sure all the powder gets wet). Meanwhile I heat 2 cups of juice, and one cup of water plus a little honey (depending on the juice). DO NOT BOIL. (The liquid just has to be hot enough to melt the gelatin gob that has formed in the 1 cup of water.) Remove the juice from the heat. Slowly add the softened gelatin, stirring well to make sure all is dissolved. Pour into a greased 13x9 pan. Cover and put into the fridge for several hours. This can be cut into squares or with cookie cutters. It is " finger " food. If you want a more normal consistency of gelatin, use only 2 packages. I haven't tried orange juice, but I make this once or twice a week with lots of other juices.
Guest guest
I had a really informative chat with Customer Support at Kraft Foods regarding Knox Gelatin. You should be successful with the Tropicana Orange Juice juice if you use the proper method in the general directions. Here is what you CANNOT gel using Knox. Some of it is illegal in any case but the info is useful. The indicated items share an enzyme that interferes with the gelling process. You cannot set mangos, kiwi fruit, papaya, figs or frozen pineapple juice or the juices of any of those with Knox. You CAN set Dole canned pineapple juice. I hope this helps. Carol F.
