Toothpaste doesn't matter... as long as the child is not swallowing it. If you

think it's likely that they are going to swallow some, you should consider

making your own.... someone has a recipe for SCD legal toothpast somewhere, I

can't put my finger on it at the moment... OR just use plain water to brush, as

was advised by our pediatric dentist. It's the brushing that is most important,

not what's in the toothpaste.

Xylitol is illegal.... although the toothpast mentioned at the bottom of your

message would be fine, again, as long as they don't swallow it.

I don't know anything about whether " prickly ash bark " is legal.... although

fine if not swallowed, I think I would avoid this and make my own if I thought

my child was apt to swallow the paste.

I've never used anything but plain water and a brush for my ten-yr-old daughter,

and she's never had a cavity. Our dentist (pediatric specialist) was delighted

to hear that Katera was on a diet that excludes all sugar and refined grains....

and said he thought it would be very unlikely she would have decay problem while

on this healthy diet.

Re: [chelatingkids2] Re: which toothpaste do you use?

I saw this tooth powder at Wild Oats called IPSAB it contains:

Pure Salt, Baking Soda, Prickly Ash Bark and Peppermint Oil. I have not tried

it yet but would comments on this for kids. Thanks

I use Xylibrite by NOW. I've bought it various online places. No

fluoride, and also no sodium laurel sulfate (SLS) or glycols or

anything. I use the mint flavor and like it a lot, I guess they make

a cinnamon too.

Corinne,

Any toothpaste is legal..... as long as you don't swallow it. If you (or your

child) are likely to swallow it, then the ingredients (ALL of the ingredients)

need to be legal. The toothpaste you're referring to must have something else

in it besides tea tree oil. You'd need to list every one of them, or we just

can't tell you.
