Guest guest
Quick note to update you all....went to ER on Thurs. night and went to a different one (the one my new GI doc uses) in Providence (RI Hospital.) At any rate, went there with the hope they were going to do something or check me in etc., AND my new GI doc was called before I left and when told I was coming, he said to have him paged as he was the covering doc that night anyway. Well, not to make a book of this, short deal was this: I was there for 6 hrs...didn't even get seen by the ER doc for at least 2 hrs at which point they decided to give me IV Dilaudid for the pain. Well, it took the edge off of the demonic, pain from hell...but I could still feel it sort of deep inside. So, they gave me more Dilaudid after another hr or so. I got nauseated at that point and they gave me IV Compazine (the same stuff I use at home in pill form)...suffice to say that for some unknown reason I actually got the demon from hell nausea just after they gave me that and was literally writhing around in the bed (wanted to lie down on the floor for some reason, guess it's cause that's what I do at home....but when I saw dried up blood on the floor near my bed that got nixed pretty quickly as an option!!) My daughter drove me up there and my granddaughters stayed here with my hubby and Matt. Didn't want hubby to bring Matt....but in 20/20 hindsight should probably have just left Matt with his sister and nieces because we didn't get out of there until 1:30 am and my daughter couldn't miss work the next day as several people were going to be out in her office!!! Sooo, it just got to the point where after 6 hrs and probably at least 4 pages to my new GI doc (who NEVER showed up BTW!!) that I felt that the worst of the pain had been levelled off with the IV Dilaudid and that I would just be more comfortable at home. So, covering ER doc didn't have a problem with that so we left. I did mention to them that the covering doc for my new GI doc had called here last week and suggested the TPN thing but they couldn't even begin to toy with that idea until my new GI doc was there and as I said, he never showed up. Also, never returned my call the following day when I was doing the protocol followup call to his office as stated in the discharge papers. Worst thing EVER!!! Did nothing really, I had another BAD day yesterday and then voila(!!) today have felt pretty good until now really and that's just because I'm sitting at the computer and have been for too long I guess. Something about the position of sitting here that really wreaks havoc with my panc. So, that's the scoop - a big waste of time!! The thing I'm most curious about though is what it says in the subject line: Why is it that so many people seem to develop problems with the panc after GB surgery? I mean is it one of those chicken before the egg kind of things or what? There's got to be a reason for it...and every doc I've ever asked about it doesn't seem to know how to answer it. Will write more soon, a 3day weekend for my hubby and Matt...so if I continue to feel as good as I did today (and BTW even this is worse than what it was before the sphincterotomies) it's still alot better than battling the demon from hell pain. I literally feel like I've been doing just that for the past 10 days....I'm ready to wave the white flag now...seriously!! I'm really getting tired and exhausted from trying to fight this. Take care all..
