Guest guest
, Lots of kids start SCD with similar sensitivities. You certainly don't have to feed her any food that triggers an obvious negative reaction. What usually happens is that over time on SCD, sensitivities diminish and the kids are able to eat foods that once caused problems. This will take time, though.... it is all hinged on healing up that leaky gut. Many families start SCD casein free.... and we suggest waiting a few months, then introducing SCD goat yogurt, in VERY small quantities and increasing gradually. You can stay entirely casein free if you want to, though. If you're concerned about the oxalate issues, I urge you to read Tamaro's research paper on Vitamin K... http://gutresearch.com/v1.html There is a lot more to this issue than just avoiding oxalates. In fact, I just read that there is some evidence that sticking to low oxalate foods actually triggers the liver to produce MORE oxalates. The whole issue might actually have more to do with calcium management. Anyway.... go read her paper, if you haven't already... and there is more info at her Vitamin K list: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VitaminK/ Patti How to handle phenol, oxalate and other sensitive on SCD Hi, My daughter has phenol, oxalate, casein and other issues. When she eats food that are slightly high in these, she develops rashes and tantrum soar. Question: 1. Do I introduce a food that is high in the above? Introducing each food slowly, of course. Or do I avoid all those food and introduce only " safe " food? Which is extremely little. 2. When I introduce and food and she develops a rash, do I back off that food or continue giving? 3. When I give a food and she is gassy, do I continue? 4. Did anyone use No-Fenol or similar enzymes? My daughter doesn't tolerate it and I was wondering if there is another similar one out there. Anyone with experience handling these sensitivities, please share. Do tese go away after on SCD? Thank you in advance.
