Guest guest
Dear Becca, Laurie's post explained the difference between addiction and physical dependence when dealing with a chronic pain condition that I don't think it's necessary to elaborate. If you read back through the posts from the last couple days, you'll see that we've been discussing this subject with another person, too, and you can read some very knowledgeable answers from our members. Pancreatic enzyme supplements are very helpful in reducing pain levels after eating. Although they work successfully for most people, there are times when they don't work for some. Much depends upon the amount taken, and the brand used. Research says that a patient has to have 30,000 units of lipase from the enzymes to be most effective, so if the dose doesn't contain that amount, relief from the pain will not be as significant as it would be with the correct amount. Some patients find that certain types work more effectively than others do, also, so the patient is encouraged to try more than one type to find out which works best. You might talk with your Mark's doctor and ask him why pancreatic enzymes supplements haven't been prescribed for his treatment. There may be a reason for this. And I have heard of a few doctors that don't believe in them, but I can tell you by personal experience that they DO work for me, and I can't eat without them without experiencing terrible bloating, pain and subsequent diarrhea. You mentioned that your husband can't file for SSDI yet. Do you mind answering my question as to why he can't file now? Please let us know if there is anything else we could help you with, or if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. We're here to help you, and Mark, any way we can.
