Kelli,

Enzyme supplements should help your husband greatly with these problems.

I've read the messages sent to you in regard to other member's success with

some of the different types available, and I just wanted to explain to you that

there are some enzymes that do more than just help with digestion. I've taken

almost all the different types available, Pancrelipase, Ultrace, Lipram, Creon

and Viokase.

I have found that the Viokase enzymes do acuattly provide some pain relief in

addition to their digestive qualities. The only disadvantage to this type of

enzyme, which is NOT enteric-coated like, Lipram, Pancrelipase and Ultrace,

is that you HAVE to take an antiacid like Zantac or Prevacid, in additon to the

enzyme, to achieve the best benefit from it. If the enzyme is a tablet that has

a

matte coating, it will start digesting too early in the stomach when it reaches

stomach acid, instead of where it's supposed to, which is in the intestines.

Taking an antiacid at least 15 minutes prior to taking the enzyme prevents the

enzyme from doing this.

It might be a less expensive solution for your husband to use an enteric-

coated enzyme like Lipram or Pancrelipase. Then he wouldn't have to worry

about a secondary antiacid medication. Those enzymes come in a gel

capsule with microbeads inside, and the gel coating prevents them from

being affected by the stomach acid, assuring that they'll reach the intestines

intact, to begin doing their work.

There is a site on our library at: www.top5plus5.com/ that has a link to where

you can get free medicine. You might take a look at that and see if one of

those options could help you.

With love, hope and prayers,

Heidi
