Guest guest
I was ordered by my GP to go to the ER on Wednesday as I have been so ill for the past 3 months--pain, nausea, increased vertigo, vomiting, etc. I was trying to avoid just this thing all those 3 months as I have suffered constantly for the last 9 years, bedridden, depressed, and hopeless. So, I went to the ER feeling so sick even the ride there was a trial. Well, after 2 hours in the waiting room (so sick and getting worse by the minute), I was taken into the ER patient area. I finally got a good doctor and asked him if he knew anything about CP and he said " Yes. " Well, he started telling me about all of the blood test and I told him what all of the results would be. I was right!! Well, they quickly put in an IV and injected me with dilauded and some anti-nausea stuff. Well, I was all doped up and feeling better for about three hours and all of the symptoms came back. The doctor and I discussed this and he said that I should try a diurgesic patch of Fentanyl, 25mg. So, he applied one and in half an hour I felt alive for the first time in 9 years. I had energy, good health and all with no nasty side effects--I simply felt WELL!! So, I wore the patch (it was for 3 days) only 36 hours and the seal broke and it was no longer effective as of Friday morning. By the time that I got to my GP's office, I was as sick as I was before going to the ER. It was hell to feel that way after getting some relief at last. So, I talked with my GP about how well the patch worked until it came loose and he was attentive. He asked me what I felt we should do and I said, " Put me on the patch. " So, he said that he would give me a few to use when I was feeling at my worst. I clarified that I was at my worst for 9 years and I don't EVER want to feel that sick again. I reminded him that under my coverage, Kaiser had to give me 90 days of any prescription, so he gave me a script for 30 patched with 6 refills!!!!!! It cost me $15. I also learned that, if I had no coverage, it would have cost about $380. I love my Kaiser benefits!!! 50¢ each doe three days of miracle . . . Ah, heaven. Now, I look forward to each day, I spend time with my family in the living room, dining room, and, soon, on trips. I also will be able to drive now as I have not driven for a few years. There is freedom and such luxury in all of this. I don't even want to sleep so as to not miss any of this great feeling. I appreciate all of the help many of you have given me in your posts, even if not addressed to me. I love all of you so much since being here in this " family " of friends and empathetic souls.
