Legal & illegal vitamins, probiotics & carnitine (rx)

My children take the following, does anyone know legal or illegal?

- Children's DHA by Nordic Naturals ingred: purified artic cod liver

oil, d-alpha tocopherol, strawberry essence & rosemary extract

(says " no gluten, yeast, mild deriviatives, artificial colors or

flavors)

- Pedia Vites by 's: other ingredients: purified water,

glycerine, natural flavoring, stevia, sodium benzoate & potassium

sorbate

- Children's Chewables Daily Multi-vitamin: other ingredients:

xylitol, stevia, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, citric acid,

silica, cellulose, natural orange and vanilla flavoring (says " this

product contains no wheat, gluten, soy, yeast, starch or anything

artificial)

- Levocarnitine oral solution USP by Rising: Each 10mls contains

1gram of levocarnitine and the following inactive ingredients:

artificial cherry flavor, d,l-malic acid, purified water, sucrose

syrup, methylparaben NF and propylparaben NF. The PH is 5. This is

because she has insufficient carnitine levels in her body.

- Multi-probiotic 4000 by Laboratories: Contains:

l.acidophilus (1.15 billion CFU), L. Rhamnosus 1.15 B CFU, L.

Rhamnosus (Type B, bifidus) 775 MM CFU, S. Lactic 275MM CFU,

Bifidobacterium Longum 275 MM CFU, B. Fifidum 275 MM CFU, S.

Thermophilus 150MM CFU, proprietary blend - FOS and ulmus fulva,

gelatin (capsule) and silica

I have a feeling this is going to bum you out, but the only legal supp you've

got there is the Nordic Naturals DHA. Everything else has at least one illegal

ingredient. As far as your probiotic is concerned, you only want to use

Lactobacillus acidopholus. Kirkman Labs makes an SCD legal one. The other

supps you listed have illegals like " natural flavors " (never trust that as

legal), zylotol, sucrose, artificial flavors, ect. I use the Kirkman Labs

Everyday Multivitamin, and that's also SCD legal. There is a legla/illegal

supps list on the pecanbread web site. I'm not sure how updated it is.

Personally, I really like Kirkman if I can get what I need from them because I

can always call them to say " I need a multivitamin for my child, and it must be

SCD compliant " , and they are familiar with which of their products falls into

that category. I recently did that with digestive enzymes. Anyway, I'm sure

you can find good replacements for these supps. I know you are planning to

start SCD tomorrow. I'd go ahead and start, and just order SCD legal

replacements ASAP. Most people find it helpful to pull supps initially anyway

while their child's body is getting cleaned out. You do want to get the

probiotic ASAP because you need to be providing replacement good guys to occupy

the area that the bad guys have freed up.
