Guest guest
My dd had 2 bands and she had a Hanger - I will also say that she was considered mild/moderate to begin with. As far as 2 band with DOC - there are a lot of factors that play into that. You may see that parents who post about their babies needing 2 bands are the ones who post more/more often as they are dealing with it more/ longer than those on only 1. Also, the severity of the brachy/plagio plays into how long a baby will need a band. Also, age is a factor. The younger a baby is banded, the shorter time because you will most likely catch a good growth spurt, vs. a baby who is older, the growth has slowed and so a longer time is needed. HTH! Jen Mom to Luli - 4 yrs old Torticollis, Plagio, Syringomyelia DOC Band - Need 1 or 2? For those of you that got the DOC Band, did your child need one or two? It seems the more I read most kids need two. Do you think that's the way CT operates as in to make more money or what is the reasoning behind so many needing 2 bands instead of one? It seems if you get the STARBand or Hanger you only need one, not 2 like CT. I don't want my son to be in one any longer than necessary but of course want the best for him. At the consultation at CT, they said our son would most likely need 2 Bands. Why can't they just correct his plagio with one band??? =
Guest guest
We only needed one. Lexi wore her DOC Band for seven weeks and her CVA went from 10 mm to 3 mm. She had a lot of growth since we banded early (4.5 months). Guest guest
My son was moderate to severe, they said hed only need one and that's all they recommeded, though to me, at the end it was borderline, they didn't feel he needed a 2nd and 2 yrs later we are finally happy with that decision. I think ppl need 2 docbands more b/c the lighter weight and smaller size also mean less foam to shave out so you can only where them 16 wks tops wheresas you can wear a hanger or star longer so less need for a 2nd On 4/5/10, julieccarr <julieccarr@...> wrote: > For those of you that got the DOC Band, did your child need one or two? Guest guest
I think though b/c the other companies use the same base band frequently (ct has different bands for different head shapes) you actually need more expertise to make sure they are working and between that and ppl not being experienced on bands only that may be why more often ppl have issues with those as opposed to a docband On 4/7/10, Durocher <funwith4@...> wrote: > My son was moderate to severe, they said hed only need one and that's > all they recommeded, though to me, at the end it was borderline, they > didn't feel he needed a 2nd and 2 yrs later we are finally happy with > that decision. > > I think ppl need 2 docbands more b/c the lighter weight and smaller > size also mean less foam to shave out so you can only where them 16 > wks tops wheresas you can wear a hanger or star longer so less need > for a 2nd > > On 4/5/10, julieccarr <julieccarr@...> wrote: >> For those of you that got the DOC Band, did your child need one or two? >> It >> seems the more I read most kids need two. Guest guest
Starbands have different shapes for plagio and brachy. I can't speak for Hanger or the other companies. Re: DOC Band - Need 1 or 2?
